Expendable Abrasives

Whether its blasting a bridge or a ship in a dock yard, sometimes the blast media can’t be re used and reclaimed. So in this situation you can only use an abrasive blast media once. Therefore it has to be economical to use. This is where Expendable Abrasives come in. Traditional ‘slag’ based abrasive products are a by product of steel, iron manufacture or copper refining. The crust by product or surface ‘slag’ is cooled, crushed and screened. Usually the grading is loose classification and the materials manufactured to a wide specification.

As environmental issues become ever more demanding the need for use of recyclable abrasives becomes ever more needed. In this instance we might suggest you consider some of our other products and services, take a look at the Project Auriga pages. This system utilises a bespoke machine and uses Plastic Hybrid Media to quickly and economically prepare a structure for inspection and repainting. Read all the details on the liked pages and keep an eye on the News and Press pages for updates as the system is trialed in the open nozzle industry.

If you’re still convinced to use an Expendable Abrasives we haveĀ 3 main types;

MacBlast, is a copper slag based or calcium silicate slag abrasive available in 3 main grades; Coarse, Medium and Fine
