Avialite Type 5, Acrylic Blast Media

Avilaite Type V – Acrylic Blast Media (3.0-3.5 Moh; 46-52 Barcol Hardness)

Avialite Type V – Acrylic Plastic Blasting media the most malleable and the least aggressive of the granular plastic medias offered by Mac’Ants, and therefore can be widely used in a variety of cleaning applications which require very gentle processing to delicate substrates, such as many aerospace applications. Manufactured from fully cast acrylic mouldings and sheet product.

Avialite Type V plastic blast media can be used in wet or dry blasting environments, and is part of the plastic media group , which also includes – Avialite  Types II & III.

The material allows the controlled removal of surface coatings, paint , dirt, flash and burr from a variety of substrates, at the correct conditions without damaging or peening the substrate, and at the correct pressures and conditions can achieve as much as a 10-12x recycle usage of the plastic media. Due to its more malleable characteristic it is more tolerant of less experienced operatives and as such is often suited to novice stripping applications and specific applications where the more gentle ability is required. 

This is due to the random ‘blocky’ shape of the particle, and its CAST qualities which will not shatter on impact and will rather ware down.

Optimum performance, is gained at relatively low pressures – typically 15-40 psi (1-3 bar) – lower than is used for many other blast media’s, and hence is not only environmentally friendly solution with regards to recycling of the product but also by using very low air pressures .

Avialite Type V medias are manufactured to high aviation (ROLLS ROYCE CSS227), and military (US MILITARY P-85891A) sieving and hardness specifications, and as such can be used in the following industries :
