Castings and Forgings
As part of the manufacturing process, a refractory lining is used for casting and, among other materials, uses molochite, fused aluminas and a range of other thermal resistant minerals. In addition, once the casting process has been completed, a de-shelling and finishing process is typically conducted. For non-ferrous metals and special alloys, this will invariably utilise either water cannon or ‘blasting’ de-shelling while for non-ferrous castings, a fused alumina will often be used. It has been speculated that a stainless steel grit media can be used although there is still concern over the amplified kinetic energy of the product and its effect on the substrate.
